A person who is between 80 to 100 pounds overweight is allowed to take weight loss surgery only if the body fat associates with some serious health complications and some of insurance companies also covers this aspect of weight loss surgery.

Patients considering for weight loss surgery should completely understand the policy of their insurance company concerning this type of surgery. If you call your insurance company to ask questions, be sure to document all forms of correspondence. Before consulting a weight loss surgeon, make it sure that you have the support of your family doctor or a physician near you, so that when need arises following surgery your family doctor should be their to support you.

It is also recommended that a weight loss surgery patient should keep detailed records and documents of each and everything that relates to weight and health. These include weight loss programs, fitness clubs and diet centers memberships.
