How to Create a Low Cholesterol Diet?

If you have determined that your total cholesterol level is high, or even if it is not, a good idea is to create a low cholesterol diet for yourself that you can stick to, one which includes healthy food and proper physical activity.

What is a Low Cholesterol Diet?

Basically a low cholesterol diet is a diet which includes healthy foods, regular exercise, and the means that you go back to your doctor regularly for proper checkups. These are all incredibly important factors in any good cholesterol diet, and must be taken into consideration with the utmost seriousness.

You can choose a low cholesterol diet that is to your liking, as there are many different ones to choose from, and this also does not mean that you have to give up all of those foods that you love. The most important thing here is to remove any foods that are high in saturated fats, because saturated fat is the leading cause in regards to a person having a high total cholesterol level.

You should try to eat according to the following guidelines: less than 7% of the day's total calories from saturated fat; 25-35% or less of the day's total calories from fat; less than 200 milligrams of dietary cholesterol a day; limit sodium intake to 2400 milligrams a day; just enough calories to achieve or maintain a healthy weight and reduce blood cholesterol level.

Remember that going to your doctor is incredibly important here, because everyone is different and so you will need to find out what the best way is for you, and what you in particular should do in order to lower your total cholesterol level. As well, you should remember to make regular appointments with your doctor from then on, in order to keep a watchful eye on your cholesterol level, so that your doctor can make sure that you are maintaining a healthy level.

There are plenty of resources that are available, and so you should take as full advantage of all of these as you possibly can. Remember also that your friends and family are there to help you and so if you are going through a rough time, you should be able to lean on them through the process. Perhaps one of them has already gone through it and can even give you advice along the way.
